- The low-voltage Efficient-cores handle background tasks for multitasking while the Performance-cores provide speed for demanding applications and games. So long as the CPU temperature is below the 122°F / 50°C threshold, the clock frequency may be temporarily increased when there is a sudden spike in CPU utilization, which can potentially avoid slowdowns.
